Your Thank You Page Isn’t Polite. It’s Powerful.

Today we’re continuing Funnels 101, and I want to talk about one of the most overlooked pieces of copy in your entire business.

Your thank you page.

I know, it doesn’t feel like real copy because it’s not a sales page, and honestly, because you’ve probably written one and made it your standard thank you page for every offer.

But if you think your thank you page isn’t doing anything, you’re leaving opportunity on the table… and probably money too.

A thank you page shows up at a moment when trust is at its highest – when someone just opted in or bought and put their faith in you to solve their problem!

So let’s maximize on this trust.

Why the Thank You Page Deserves More Attention

A thank you page is what someone sees immediately after they take action. If your is a simple confirmation message, you’re off to a great start, but let’s make it even better

I see thank you pages as a transition point. And transitions are where relationships are built or dropped.

Gratitude is one of the most powerful psychological tools we have. When you use this page intentionally, you’re not just being polite. You’re reinforcing trust and guiding momentum.

One of my favorite ways to use thank you pages is to give people a sense of forward motion by creating an inevitability.

Instead of “Thanks, check your inbox,” I like to give one or two simple next steps.

It often looks like this:

Thanks for downloading the thing!

You’re already on your way to [transformation]. If you want to [do the transformation even better], you have two things to do:

1. Check your email. Your download is waiting for you there.

2. Do the second thing. It’ll help you have even more of a transformation!

The goal here is to keep the energy moving and to create an inevitability: make it so easy for someone to take the next step to work with you.

The second thing could be:

  • A tripwire

  • A survey

  • Following you on social media

  • Joining your community

  • Replying to your email

  • Any action you want them to take to get them closer to working with you!

Opportunity 1: Learn More About the People Raising Their Hands

Your thank you page is also an opportunity to learn more about your audience.

Instead of guessing where someone is or what they want, you can ask NOW, while they’re engaged in your brand.

People answer market research questions, and when they do, they hand you the exact language you should be using everywhere else.

Remember, we want to be using client voice whenever possible!

There’s also a practical benefit. When people engage and reply, your emails perform better - so it’s a win-win!

Opportunity 2: Tripwires That Sell

Ride the momentum whenever possible, dear reader!

Your people just downloaded or purchased something because it is going to solve a distinct problem for them. If you are not positioning an offer that solves their next problem, you are passing up the opportunity to position yourself as the authority in their world.
