I love selling. I love a promotion period you're excited about. And every November, I watch service providers get pushed into Black Friday sales they don't want, can't staff, and end up resenting.

So let's bring Black Friday back down to earth. Black Friday is a flash sale. That's it. Which means every one of these Black Friday sale ideas works any time of year, and you get to choose whether November is the right moment for yours.

If you're planning a Black Friday or Cyber Monday promotion, this post gives you nine ways to frame it so it stands out and stays easy to run. If you're skipping it, keep reading anyway. You'll walk away with a stack of flash sales ideas for later in the year.

& if you ARE running a BFCM sale…

Do You Need to Run a Black Friday Sale?

Here's your permission slip: you don't.

A lot of the "you HAVE to run a Black Friday sale" advice comes from people thinking like product businesses. You're a service provider. Before you commit, ask yourself:

  • Do I have the capacity to run this?

  • If a link breaks the day after Thanksgiving, can I fix it, or will I be stuck in a car all day?

  • Is my audience ready for a flash sale right now?

  • How will I feel if this sale doesn't hit the numbers someone's program promised me?

Also remember who you're selling to. If your audience is American, they aren't at their desks on Black Friday. They're in airports or watching football, reading your email in fifteen-second snippets between leftovers. Clear, concise copy matters more that weekend than any other time of year.

Still want to run one? Amazing. I'm here for it.

Your offer doesn't need to be complicated. It needs to be enticing.

Black Friday Sale Ideas for Service Providers

Here are nine flash sale structures that sell without blanket discounting.

1. BOGO Offers (Buy One, Get One)

Buy one, get the next one free or half off. This works beautifully for digital products and low-ticket offers.

Ideas include:

  • Buy the copy template, get the bot half off

  • Buy one VIP Day, get a half day free

  • Buy six templates, get three free

Yes, this technically discounts your offer. But it only kicks in after someone buys, so it raises your average order value compared to a single full-price purchase.

2. Exit Offers (Retiring an Offer or a Price)

Sunsetting a service at the end of the year? Black Friday is a great time to give it one last push. Maybe you're done offering strategy calls. Offer them one more time, at a discount or as an add-on.

You can also retire a price instead of an offer. "On December 1, this goes from $497 to $997. Grab it at the current price now." Exit offers also set you up to announce a new offer and raise awareness on the ones you already have.

3. Affiliate Offers

No offer you want to sell? Promote someone else's. If you're in an affiliate program where a $1,000 offer pays you $200 per sale, that's a much lighter lift than building your own promo and wrangling the tech behind it.

4. Shrinking Discounts

The discount gets smaller over time, which rewards fast decisions.

  • Beat the clock: 50% off in the morning, 30% at 3 p.m., 15% until midnight

  • Volume tiers: the first five buyers get 50% off, the next five get 30%, everyone else gets 15% through the weekend

5. Growing Discounts

The discount grows as people buy more. One template at 20% off, two at 30% off, three or more and the whole order is 40% off. This one encourages bigger carts.

6. The Secret List

Hate spamming your list? Treat Black Friday like a waitlist. Only people who opt in hear about your deals. This also works if you have another promotion coming up that could compete.

You can also run your sale to one segment of your list and save your next launch for the other segment.

7. Lead Gen and Sweepstakes

Everyone who buys on Black Friday goes into a drawing for a prize: a refund or a done-for-you VIP Day. You capture new contacts and sell something with the promise of something bigger.

Pro-tip: check your local laws before you run this one. Not every state or industry allows sweepstakes, and financial advising in particular has strict rules.

8. Reverse Offers (Group Pricing)

The more people buy, the lower the price gets per person. I've seen this work with race registration: $50 per runner, or $200 flat for a team of four or more. This is great for live events, webinars, and licensed software (individual seats versus a team license).

9. Let Your Black Friday Copy Do the Heavy Lifting

Writing the emails is usually the hardest part of any flash sale. If you want a shortcut, my Black Friday email templates take your offer details and brand voice and spit out your sales emails for you.

"I have the High-Converting Challenge Sequence Emails and the Black Friday Emails and am over the moon with both!"

What Makes Flash Sales Convert

Every sale comes down to urgency and exclusivity. Your buyer needs to know why they should buy from you, and why right now.

And remember, people buy the transformation. Nobody wakes up wishing for a PDF download or a course login. They wish their problem was solved, so sell what life looks like on the other side of it.

If you want to go deeper on structuring promos, my Flash Sale Workshop walks you through it.

Start Seeding Your Black Friday Offer Now

You've got time. Start telling people you're excited about something coming. On Instagram, hint that if they've been eyeing an offer of yours, they should hold off and watch their inbox. Build your email list (or a secret list) now.

Talk about the problem your offer solves and what life looks like after they buy. It's never too early.
